I took this image during my long and tiring journey through the himalayas to a place called Lo Manthang also known as the last forbidden kingdom. This place was unlike anything I have ever seen or imagined, under the lap of the mountains in the border of China and Nepal. Sitting at an altitude of around 4000m, even walking a long distance was a challenge, let alone with my camera gear due to the thin air and lack of oxygen in the air. On the first evening wondering around this village, I came across a pair of black kites that was nesting near by the village as I saw them often during my time there. As 200mm was my longest reach, I had to wait patiently for this image. At some point, this bird came closer to inspect me and I finally go this image. Development has barely touched the lives of the people of this region yet they are the first one that will go, if the global climate change threat continues to grow. Many endangered species as well as the local people and culture here exists in such a fragile environment. The real problems here goes un-noticed to much of the world where we live in and people and wildlife here continue to face the effect of climate change and habitat loss.
